Considerations for Latitudes between 23 ½ N and 23 ½ S

Calibration Considerations:

Series 2400 Solar Tracker Azimuth Settings for Installations near the Equator

Northern Hemisphere

Trackers in the Northern Hemisphere above 23 ½ N, the operational range will be somewhere in the Northeast moving South to somewhere in the Northwest.

Limit switches should be physically placed within this range. If needed the Minimum Limit can be placed more to the North but should not be placed beyond due North.

The SPAtype should be designated “1”. See Limit Switch Installation

Southern Hemisphere

Trackers in the Southern Hemisphere below 23 ½ N, the operational range will be somewhere in the Southeast moving South to somewhere in the Southwest.

The SPAtype should be designated “5”. See Limit Switch Installation

23 1/2 North to 23 1/2 South

Latitudes between +23.5 N and -23.5 S experience both the Northerly and Southerly paths of the Solar Azimuth. This requires the tracker to operate the entire 360 range of the compass.

The SPAtype should be designated “4”. See Limit Switch Installation

When moving along the Northerly path, it is important that the controller keeps track of how it arrives in the quadrant between 270 deg. and 360 deg. so it can return in the same direction  and not wrap wiring around damaging the assembly.
